Motels have never been considered to be a luxury place to stay, but you’d also never assume there would be exposed live wires dangling out of walls, layers of stains on the ceiling from decades of cigarette smoke, or rampant mold in the washroom. Shockingly enough, that’s exactly what a Canadian YouTuber Alex Ketchum found when he visited the worst reviewed motel in his city.
Alex’s video, “Staying At The Worst Reviewed Motel In My City” featured a motel in Toronto, Canada called Hav-a-Nap. The video begins with Alex going through an abundance of reviews of the motel on TripAdvisor, with most of the reviews of the place not being on the positive side. One reviewer on TripAdvisor even went as far as to say “they’d rather sleep on broken glass” than spend a night at the Hav-a-Nap motel. Alex Ketchum’s research of the motel even turns up a 2016 Toronto Star article covering the death of a young woman who died at the motel.
Alex’s journey into the suit becomes even more disturbing than the the reviews could ever describe, with live wires protruding from the walls, vile mold, a sink placed next to the bed and putrid UV light tests revealing stains all over the room. Alex even mentions in the video that this was the luxury suite.
Despite the shocking condition of the motel room, Alex’s upbeat outlook on the situation and his witty commentary made the tour of the room all the more interesting to watch. Alex’s video was a fascinating look into the kind of places we all want to see, but would never dream of going into ourselves. The next time you’re thinking of staying the night at a place, maybe consider checking the reviews first.
