Music is one of the most successful forms of art today. People listen to music all the time. Whether content, excited, gloomy, depressed, or when in the mood to celebrate, music always blends with one’s mood, which without a doubt makes it an important form of art as well.
Because of music’s close association with people, it has adapted the humanistic trait to ‘change.’ Music is one of those art forms that has experienced an evolution in all ways. From Blues and Jazz to Hip/Hop and raps, music has come a long way. With evolution, the music industry has bloomed into a vast place with a ton of musicians competing against each other to reach the top. At the same time, Nate Jolley, a.k.a. IMMPAAC, an American record producer, composer, drummer, and multi-instrumentalist who aspires to deviate from the norm and connect with his followers with his music.
Born in Washington D.C. in the U.S., this young boy had a different connection with music. Unlike others, he did not just groove to the beats, instead felt their composure, comprehended the beats, and developed a unique connection with them while understanding what the music wanted to convey.
As the son of Noble Levi Jolley Jr., a veteran jazz guitarist, he had very soon decided his aim in life. Nate and his siblings were greatly influenced by their father and learned to play an instrument or two. Belonging from a musical family, he knew that he wanted to spend his life creating music from a very early age.
Fulfilling His Father’s Dream
Nate’s father always dreamt of working in the music industry and releasing his music album, but due to uncertainties and responsibilities, he could not accomplish his dream. Nate says, “He never got to do that big musical project, like a great recording, to express his vision.”
So, Nate and his pianist brother Noble decided to give a tribute to their father and fulfill his dream by releasing an album of ten tracks named ‘Memoirs of Brothers released in 2011’ He says, “That’s part of why we call this album Memoirs Between Brothers—it’s a family affair, the project our dad never got to make”
Some of the songs that were instant hits include ‘Musical Motivation,’ which was dedicated to their father’s efforts to train his children in music. Noble wrote the lyrics of this song, and Nate, with his exceptional drumming skills, provided beats to this song.
The visionary brothers thought about their community a lot. In 2009, when the twins were studying, they launched a multi-million-dollar scholarship fund in their father’s name. Nate said, “Giving back to the community is important, and kids should be able to feel special and loved, especially around the holidays.”
Destined for Greatness
Determined from a very young age, Nate had a clear vision of his dreams. He graduated from Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University with an honors degree in ‘Jazz Studies.’ He worked day and in and day out to improve his skill and be exceptional at music.
Nate’s first venture was as an executive producer of ‘BET Wrap It Up Mixtape.’ It was a success and ended being an Emmy-Winning show.
After gaining success for his first show, Nate launched his recording studio and production company called ‘Ready Set Impact,’ which was co-founded by his business partner Jeanie Jones.
Nate has discovered some of the biggest musical gems in the industry, namely Fifth Harmony, Austin Mahone, and many more. He has also collaborated with some of the biggest musical stars including, Kenny Lattimore, Elijah Blake, Dala, and Malik Yusef.
After proving himself as a prominent producer, he co-wrote and produced ‘Superman’ with Dalal Brunchmann for a documentary film ‘Hair: A Documentary,’ which was released in 2015. Not only the movie received appreciation from the viewers, but its song was later nominated for the ‘Best Song – Documentary’ category by Hollywood Music.
One of Nate’s most famous collaboration is with Kenny Lattimore. In 2016, the duo worked together on a seasonal music album called ‘A Kenny Lattimore Christmas,’ which peaked at #4 at The Billboard Gospel Charts. Jolley also produced ‘Real Love This Christmas,’ a song from this album that positioned on the 21st rank of The Billboard Hot 100 Gospel Charts.
Currently, Nate has been working on releasing his debut musical track with Trinidad Cardona, the ‘Jennifer’ singer. The track is called ‘Running Game’ and is all set to release in 2021.
