One scroll through the glossy feed of your favourite influencer’s profile and you will likely see a snapshot of a perfect life. Their account is probably filled with images of luxury travel to far-flung places, a cascade of videos at unbelievable events and a seemingly endless stream of beautiful products and people flowing to them. Nothing seems impossible to them, everything they want or need is within reach.
Yet, how is this possible? What portal to a parallel universe did these people venture into that you somehow missed? To uncover the secret behind the lens, this publication has conducted interviews and carried out an exhaustive research campaign.
Our in-depth investigation brought us to speak to some of the internet’s most recognisable names (all of whom chose to preserve their anonymity). After a lot of to-and-fro via DMs (Direct Messages) we managed to convince some of these online stars to reveal their secrets.
What we discovered is that there is a secret society, hidden in plain-sight, that serves as the conduit to the world’s most coveted access. Through the digital door of this Aladdin’s cave of wonders sits invitations to the world’s most sought-after events (everything from seats at the Oscars, to fashion week parties through to dinners with celebrities) free products from luxury brands (Cartier anyone?), complimentary suites at five-star hotels and a life of pampered opulence.
This ultimate member’s club is appropriately called ‘Don’t Die Wondering’ (or DDW for short) and access is by invitation only. Every application is reviewed by a committee of peers that utilise strict criteria to allow a new member in. Once inside, a newly minted initiate will be connected to the app where they receive insider info on the latest events (with an emphasis on cosmopolitan centres London and New York).
Although the first rule of DDW is that “you do not talk about DDW”, our investigation revealed that many of the web’s top names are members and perhaps even more surprisingly, quite a few names from TV and film (hat tip to one of the Bond stars), are also active in the society; laudable company indeed.
The founder of the company Antoin Commane is a high-profile entrepreneur with 217,000 instagram followers and a history of entrepreneurial ventures in hospitality including premium nightclubs and restaurants in London’s fashionable Kensington and Mayfair areas. Press clippings show Prince Harry, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, Billy Zane, Rita Ora and Ed Westwick attending his venues.
However, after all our research, it must be said that peeling away these initial layers into the influencer mystery has left us wanting more. Armed with an Instagram account and a recommendation from a member we met in our research, we are going to try our hand and apply… wish us luck and hope to see you on the inside!
