Big Juicy, an up and coming hip-hop artist out of the Detroit music scene, has had his share of challenges and obstacles to overcome up to this point in his life, and his young rap career. Even with these hardships, Big Juicy is not letting them slow him down and is surging ahead, looking to be the next big thing in hip-hop.
Born and raised on the east side of Detroit, Big Juicy started his music career freestyling at parties while attending Michigan State University. After releasing a handful of singles, Big Juicy released a collaboration project, Blue Eyes, with fellow Detroit artist Justin Don in 2019. Now, he is on to finish his next project due out in the coming months. Writing both projects have come with their shared struggles, one of which being a lack of support. “People don’t like to show love in the beginning, so it’s almost like you have to prove yourself to get fans.” Along with these struggles, Big Juicy has had to battle personal misfortune throughout his career. Overcoming depression and poverty have been common themes for Big Juicy, but he has cited these as reasons he works endlessly and ten times harder to reach his dreams.
At the start of his budding career, Big Juicy is thankful for the strong base of support he has been receiving throughout the first couple of years. When asked about his favorite memory of his career to this point, he said, “…someone pulled me to the side after a concert and hugged me and told me they felt my energy in all my music.” He continued, “They guaranteed me that the world will know Big Juicy, and hearing that from fans in the crowd gave me the clarification I needed that my music is touching people.” Keep your eyes and ears open for new music from Big Juicy on his Instagram, big_juicy99.
