In early spring, the Southern California hotel industry all but shuttered.
Now officials are starting to better understand the impact of the coronavirus pandemic—and the region is slowly, and carefully, reopening. But is it safe to stay in a hotel?
A Malibu Staycation to Be Remembered
Egle “Eglita” Fox is a hotel connoisseur lauded for the breathtaking images on her Instagram account @eglita.
Determined to practice social distancing in a breathtaking environment, Eglita decided to plan a birthday staycation at a hotel she could trust. Malibu Beach Inn immediately came to mind—a gorgeous getaway on a stretch of coast known to locals as “Billionaire’s Beach.”
Having stayed in some of the world’s most exclusive hotels, Eglita considers herself an arbiter of sorts, specializing in luxury inns and resorts. The luxury traveler offers only the most honest, unbiased reviews of the hotels she frequents. Yet everywhere she goes, the staff go above and beyond to exceed her expectations.
Eglita’s Unparalleled Experience
While she enjoys being spoiled, Eglita admits that she won’t hesitate to be critical when needed. And she tells us she had a wonderful birthday in Malibu.
Eglita says she slept with the balcony doors open, looking out upon the vastness of the Pacific Ocean. The soothing sound of the waves crashing below was second-to-none, and though masks and cloth face coverings were mandatory within close vicinity of other guests, they weren’t required at the beach.
An added bonus: Eglita tells us she enjoyed a seamless check-in process.
Safe and Sunny Malibu
While it took a bit of time to sanitize the room, Eglita says there were no delays or inconveniences to speak of. To this day, she tells us can’t speak highly enough about the inn—or about Malibu, a place worth visiting in itself.
Malibu, Eglita explains, has a special, intimate beach town feel. It’s not uncommon to see celebrities enjoying a beachfront walk or catching waves on a surfboard.
“The sky is more blue in Malibu,” Eglita adds.
When I ask her why that is, she smiles and coyly removes her sunglasses.
“It reflects my eyes,” she says with a laugh.
