The rise of the pandemic has not only put a halt on the structural and financial functions of the world but also pulled us all back a couple of years. Happiness comes from living as you need to, as you want to. Tragic, however, it may seem, but to rise from the ashes as a Phoenix is what differentiates mankind, especially the go-getters and dream achievers. Sure, the outbreak of Covid-19 during such trying times has made it even more difficult for people to pursue their dreams, heck it has even pushed us down to scrape off to live a bare minimum lifestyle. But this does not necessarily suggest that there is no hope left, no breather in this chase.
As it is said, don’t confuse having a career with having a life, Abdallah Al Abdeen is one such person, who’ll definitely amp up our blue Mondays, well let’s round it off to a blue year. Having achieved success after a streak of misfortunes, Abdeen is on the path to becoming one of the leading self-made entrepreneurs in the world. Abdeen shares in order to succeed at this time, it is important for you to be steady and well ordered in your life, so that you can be fierce in your work and deliver each day what is required. Everything in life has to be balanced at this time, whether it’s business travel or halting my plans a little to open my business in London.
His journey from being born into a working-class family to becoming a successful entrepreneur is truly inspiring. From stocking shelves at a Nike authorized retailer for a few bucks an hour, to working across the globe. Abdeen has surely made it to the books, becoming an inspiring story for future generations to behold.
Abdeen’s work life balance runs on two different models: one side focuses on profit, sales, hard work, management, meetings, business travel and overtime, however his other side focuses on health, family, hobbies, quality time, happiness and love.
Even during the pandemic, Abdeen has become a beacon of inspiration for all of us, inspiring us to accommodate and improvise like him. Most of Abdeen’s work involves regular travels to Dubai, China, and Europe, which was severely affected by COVID-19. But following his pattern of getting back up and continuing to pursue his dreams, Abdeen found a way to maintain a work-life balance for his hectic business travel programs during this pandemic. Starting from ground zero and reaching the pinnacle definitely teaches a man a thing or two. The fact that he made it through the tough times previously is his utmost inspiration. And there is no stopping a man who has been knocked down multiple times and got back plus one.
So if you want your work to run smoothly, your first priority should be your own health and safety. Mitigating the risks of business travel during the pandemic is one of the most important aspects you need to consider at this time.
The safer you are the lesser are the chances of you affecting others. Being the boss increases the difficulties quite a bit because along with all workload on his shoulders he has to support his employees as well. But taking short breaks from work, spending little time with your family in between, eating well and sleeping well does help in keeping one’s mental health in a balance. Although his work requires a lot of travelling, he always takes extra care about being safe. He has made a recent visit to Paris and as the European life allures one he might want to extend his business there. Abdeen says, “London has better connections to the world, and is home to the headquarters of many global businesses. It’s no surprise then that starting a business in London is a great idea for my family.”
Either you run the day, or the day runs you. Abdeen doesn’t only strives to be successful, but rather to be of value, you need to be moderate in order to taste the joys of life in abundance. During his business travel, he feels that it is better to see something once, than to hear about it a thousand times. Sometimes you meet a person and just click, you are well known to them and really completely changes your perspective. Balance is not just making better time management, but better boundary management. Abdeen engages in his own passion, and finds comfort in the quiet hours between jumping through career hoops, that most people need to follow for not just being only successful.
Abdeen in a conversation with Avoof’s founder Rajat, shared that as unnerving as the situation seemed at first, the best way to get past all the stress without letting your work get affected is by realising that what is happening is real and for the time being there is no coming back. He agrees with Paul Tsongos ideology, No one on his deathbed ever said, I wish I had spent more time at the office.
