Experts believe life won’t return to normal for at least 2 years

Most countries are now rolling out their vaccine programmes, but the pandemic isn’t over yet. Moreover, many experts believe that life won’t return to normal for at least the next 2 years. The jabs of COVID vaccine can reduce the number of cases, but the pandemic isn’t over until we don’t finish it on a global scale.

Global Health Policy’s assistant professor, Dr Clare Wenham, believes that pandemic isn’t finished until the world population is fully protected.

She also added that the current vaccine rollout data shows that everybody will receive vaccine jab by 2023/24. Thus, it’s still a quite long way to cover.

Even if the UK manages to vaccinate all of its citizens, we will still have to live under specific border restriction. Thus it’s important to finish the pandemic on the global scale.

Currently, Britain has one of the highest levels of vaccine rollout, whereas many countries are yet to start. Thus, WHO has urged the UK government to pause its rollout after delivering it to the vulnerable group.

Dr Wenham also added that it’s important to vaccinate the vulnerable group globally to continue global trading systems. Moreover, it’s crucial to make sure that there are no new variants as we cannot risk bringing any new variant to the country.

Thus, it’s quite clear that pandemic isn’t over until other countries manage to vaccinate their most vulnerable group as well.
