Born in India, Aanchal’s family moved to Lagos, Nigeria when she was very young. She grew up with an older brother and a twin brother. Raised in an environment where she witnessed two parents who understood how to survive during hard times, Aanchal valued personal development even as a child. Hence, she credits her father’s hard work in providing for their family and describes her mother as a jovial human, always trying to bring happiness to her family.
Committed to constant growth, Aanchal aspired to seek a better future despite the challenges and focused on the positive aspects of her life. When she lost her eldest brother to cerebral malaria, she was only 13, Aanchal resolved to be a source of strength for her family and coped with the loss by focusing on her studies and art. She was admitted to the University of Toronto and persuaded her twin brother to accompany her. They arrived in Canada as international students and obtained profitable careers shortly after graduating.
Tradegy struck again when she lost her twin brother to suicide. This prompted her journey to raise mental health awareness. The tragedies in her personal life brought her closer to realizing her life’s purpose: being a source of help and comfort for others via her professional and social endeavors. As a celebrated author, influencer, and entrepreneur, Aanchal’s efforts have been recognized and appreciated by several institutions as she continues being an impact driver who hopes to make lives better.
“My journey is a testament that anything is possible. Regardless of where you grew up, who you are, and what you used to do, you can decide to start over and rebuild the life of your dreams. It’s not easy, but certainly worth the risk.” – Aanchal Vash
