IPN sues alumni before PROFECO

Lawsuit against businesses undertaken by their alumni, related to the production or sale of some type of transfer factor, even if it is totally different from the one prepared in their Biological Sciences area.

The National Polytechnic Institute sued before PROFECO to those alumni who decided to undertake and apply their knowledge in the creation of food products and supplements and who, apparently, compete with their so-called transfer factor, although these have a composition and presentation different from Transferon®, a brand produced and patented by the IPN.

It is important to mention that most of the products that are marketed in the market with that FT name are produced by researchers graduated from the National Polytechnic Institute, who based on what they learned during their career and seeking to offer auxiliary options for health, have put their knowledge at the service of society creating food supplements in the form of capsules or tablets, with different formulations completely different from those that can be received in the Biological Sciences area of the IPN.

Despite the fact that within the lawsuit, the IPN requests that the Attorney General’s Office verify the SSA registration of the aforementioned products, when looking for the status of the 483M94 SSA registration corresponding to Transferón® within the data of the Cofepris Sanitary Registry, it is noted that the registry was issued on January 1, 1994 and expired on February 24, 2010. That is, it does not have a current health registry as shown by public consultation documents.

Transferon®, a brand produced and patented by the IPN, has an expired sanitary registration as recorded in the Cofepris Sanitary Registry.

It is worth mentioning that many of the products demanded have been in the market for more than 10 years and even said companies have the Cofepris operating permit. But it is until now, during the pandemic, and when more support is required by entrepreneurial companies, when the Institution that was in charge of the Director Mario Alberto Rodríguez Casas until December 14 and who in previous years was in charge of the Superior School of Biological Sciences now commanded by Dr. Sonia Mayra Pérez Tapia, seems determined to disqualify its own graduates.
