Online modeling is not a career choice with any kind of certainty. When people decide to start an Instagram profile and use it professionally as a tool for making money, there’s nothing that can say to them whether they’ll make it or not. In that sense, online models are just like any other entrepreneurs: they take risks hoping they will pay off.
Still, many seem to be willing to take that chance and give online modeling a go. Usually, they’d turn to Instagram, or a platform like TikTok, and start publishing their content there, working on getting a following. It’s a tough job, making it all the more important to have the right reasons and the right plan when getting into it. Katiana Kay, a rising star in the industry, explains hers.
The Desire to Put Oneself out There
Online modeling happens on social networks and platforms that are open to the public. An online model will be open to scrutiny from every person who finds them on Instagram or TikTok or subscribes to their content on OnlyFans. That’s not an easy thing to endure, and it can be taxing enough on a model that they eventually decide to leave the industry altogether.
Katiana knew, from day one, that she wanted to be a public figure. She had no qualms about what it takes to build a personal brand on these platforms. After gaining valuable experience and an even better understanding of the industry, the good and the bad, she doesn’t seem to be backing down.
Building a Following
What would be the point of having a social media profile or an account with a content-sharing platform if no one’s there to see all that content? People create stuff so others can see it. It’s no different for online models. The followers and their views are what help creators earn from their content, whether they’re using the following to promote products or selling access to their content.
For Katiana, her following should ultimately help her launch her brand. For now, however, it’s proven to be a source of inspiration for content, a springboard for a viral video, and a force that’s helped her increase her presence and keep moving toward fulfilling her goals.
Taking It a Step Further
Using an online modeling career to create businesses and products and promote them isn’t a backup plan; it’s one of the main reasons to get into the industry. Not that there’s anything wrong with content creation. However, we live in a time when even big-name stars are creating one line of products after another. Online models can do the same, even though it will probably be on a smaller scale.
All things natural are the type of products that Katiana would be interested in creating. It could be natural cosmetics or natural health products; it doesn’t matter. If it’s sustainable and it helps people, she’d be interested in at least checking it out. Right now, she’s getting her brand of smokable hemp ready for launch. She doesn’t plan on stopping with that, either.
