Lebanon has a whole host of aesthetic clinics and beauty spas. Anti-aging specialist Dr. Amany Sabbagh is determined to navigate it differently. As an active partner and attending physician at NuYuMediSpa, one of Lebanon’s top aesthetic clinics, Dr. Sabbagh has a lot of influence in her field and is committed to using her position to spread accurate, up-to-date information and awareness, while nurturing relationships with other clinics and physicians. Recently, both in her practice and online, she has begun making real efforts to create a more compassionate and collaborative environment for her clients and for her community. In this way, she hopes to break down barriers and join together with other physicians, spreading awareness and goodwill in her field.
Born into a family of six children, Dr. Sabbagh understands the challenges and benefits of cooperating with others. Her father was a key figure in her life who taught all his children the power of helping others and caring for each other. He was one of the primary reasons Dr. Sabbagh decided to work hard to attend the Beirut Arab University and earn her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). It was a financial and mental struggle, but she was able to graduate and continue her medical education through several local and international programs. The challenges she overcame earning her degree taught her about the importance of hard work and self-care. Since her youth, Dr. Sabbagh has been an active and benevolent member of her community. She has been a long-time volunteer for food blessed, an organization fighting hunger relief and food waste in Lebanon, and a Mentor for The Nawaya Network, helping disadvantaged youth through employability programs and entrepreneurship training.
Dr. Sabbagh has translated this mentality into her professional life as well, in the way she operates at the clinic with her clients. As an attending physician, she is committed to creating a relaxed, luxury experience for everyone who comes to the clinic. From the moment they register, Dr. Sabbagh makes sure every aspect of their visit is personal and supportive. She is adamant that her clients understand their treatment plan in detail, including the products and procedures.
I don’t see patients in a fast-paced manner. I give the patientall the time they need to express all their concerns, and I take the time to plan their treatment, personalized their treatment, and make sure they’re educated on each part of the plan,” she explains. Their emotional status is also critical, as Dr. Sabbagh never wants her clients to make a decision they are unsure about or correlate their self-worth with an aesthetic change. Her mission is for every client to leave feeling more confident in their natural beauty, more relaxed about their treatment plan, and more knowledgeable about the procedures and services.
Online, Dr. Sabbagh’s social media presence has been critical for sharing educational and empowering content. Although Dr. Sabbagh can only see a limited number of clients at NuYu, she can reach thousands through social media. With over 15,000 followers, Dr. Sabbagh makes sure that she shares evidence-based and highly accurate information that will be helpful to her followers. One of the primary ways in which she has been spreading awareness is through her weekly conversations with other beauty experts, dermatologists, and plastic surgeons in Lebanon. These conversations promote collaboration between members of the industry, while ensuring that viewers are getting multiple reliable sources of information. “Empowerment is more important than self-image,” says Dr. Sabbagh. “I’m passionate about spreading awareness and building connections.”
Whether dealing with clients face-to-face, or hosting an empowering and educational conversation on Instagram, Dr. Sabbagh is determined to spread her message of positivity, collaboration, and kindness. She hopes that her inter-industry conversations and collaborations willcreate lasting relationships, while delivering helpful information to her followers and clients.
