Christopher King, an entrepreneur, creates ventures that lighten the path of the black community through the power of mentoring.
People who strive for success often hit snags due to a lack of guidance from an experienced person. Mentors have long sustained their importance in the world by refining their mentees into an epitome of success in their respective fields. However, with the busy schedules of life, people have been underestimating the power of mentoring, and to wake them up from this slumber, Christopher King embarked on a journey. Inspired by his own story of a mentor and mentee relationship, he created ventures that focus on the empowerment of the black youth and black men.
Christopher created WAM (We Are Marcus), an ed-tech digital platform that gives the opportunity to the kids in the community of color to be mentored by the powerful black men in the community who have conquered the hurdles of life every step of the way with bravery. These people have paid more attention to success and building a rapport that surpasses the gap that prevails in the community, and hence they are a force to be reckoned with. Besides WAM, Christopher has also launched 2 other ventures, The Black Excellence Sale, which is an online store that focuses on Black Excellence Merchandise. The 3rd venture is Theo Advisors, which shares the inspiring stories of black founders (men and women) who have built the relationship capital that enables them to solve problems while achieving their mission.
Mentoring Enlightens Path To Success
His bonafide ventures are transforming the lives of many with their genuine and meticulously crafted path. According to the National Mentoring Project, 1 in every 4 youth does not have access to a quality mentoring relationship. Also, Stanford University and several other publications note that only 2% of educators in K-12 in the US are black men. WAM’s team believes that they can do better for the youth on both representation and impact. The creation of We Are Marcus and launch of WAM Academy this year, will help close the mentoring gap and revolutionize mentoring with edtech.
The youth as a collective needs diverse experience to reach the pivotal stage of success in their lives. Christopher and his revolutionary ventures aim to disrupt the culture by combining tradition with technology.
With the help of WAM, Theo Advisors and Black Excellence Sale, he will help the youth and adults alike to bring their stories to the forefront and represent what difference a mentorship brings to life. The aim of his ventures is to engage over 8 Million students in the WAM academy by 2025 and invest $5 million in Black Founders by 2030. With the collective effort and experience of him and his team, Christopher has created a wave in the mentoring industry by combining the traditional ways to the ever-evolving technology.
