The Blank Space singer has never made her opinion public and rarely speaks about political issues. She received a lot of backlash for not speaking up about issues that needed hearing. She has a lot of viewers which means she could bring out a positive change if she wants to.
After being in all kinds of controversies like her feud with Katy Perry which she finally put to rest, and her hate relationship with Kanye and the Kardashians, she has been a victim of online trolling.
Taylor Swift turned off her comment section on Instagram given she received a lot of negativity. Recently she released audio of her song “You need to calm down”, which is the second song in her album.
The album name is “lover” like many of the swifties speculated. In her new song, she defends the LGBTQ+ Community and stands up for them. She also calls out people who are mean towards the LGBTQ+ community.
In her lyrics she says ”you just need to take several seats and then try to restore the peace, and control your urges to scream about the people you hate. Because shade never made anybody less gay”.
Taylor is the master at delivering cryptic messages and her fans love to decode it. She alluded to the Westboro Baptist church in her song. She sings “Sunshine on the street at the parade, but you would rather be in the dark ages, makin’ that sign must’ve taken all night.”
She also spells the word Glad as “ Glaad” in her lyric video, which hints the campaign group GLAAD that campaigns for the LGBTQ+ rights.
She explains why she wrote the song and why she feels it is necessary. Se shared how she saw a lot of people who put so much time and effort in breeding negativity. She wanted to dedicate a song to them, “Like just calm down!”
