The Future of Learning

Neeta talks about the future of learning from a unique, human centered perspective.
An Aeronautical Engineer who is specialized in Design Thinking from IIT Bombay, India and holds experience as a Learning and Experience Design Specialist, this young thinker sheds light on what the future of learning will look like.

It’s time. We learn to Learn.

So much of our learning takes place outside the walls of schools and colleges. And the impact of learning is lost in the perversion of technology and social media. While of course, not negating the fact that it has and was meant to bring us closer to each other.

Today, we do not hear many desiring to live a meaningful life or wanting to lead with conviction or purpose or even inspire kindness and compassion. But we are talking about well-being, work-life balance, mental health, priorities. It is great to create space to fail. It is only when you fail, and not feel judged you are motivated to try again. In order to succeed, one must learn how to fail. Learning is simply creating the space for you to fail and the opportunity to try again all at the same time. But equipping you with the right tools you need to succeed this time.

When it comes to learning, anything can be learnt, or taught even. The challenge is always meeting the needs of the learner. That is where technology plays a vital role.

Skills in the marketplace is always going to be your golden buzzer moment. Today, the market has burgeoned with skills and competency levels, and everyone deserves a shot. The question then lies, “what do I need to learn to set myself apart?”. That is where innovation comes in.

Technology has always been the yin and yang in our life. But when technology meets innovation in learning, that is where impact takes place. A learning experience carved with innovation and technology not only inspires you to be better, but it also molds you for the better.

If skills are taught though experiencing its applications using technology, and the competency to apply skills is taught via innovative methods, then as a learner, you are equipped to make it your own.

We are building great technologies and breaking into new patterns of innovation, only to meet the needs of every type of learner.

The future of learning is aspiring and creative. With so many factors that contribute to changing human behaviors and consumption of content, learning experiences are taking new forms, and are striving toward new era of creating the brightest and the sharpest minds.

At the core of it all, lies the heart – the human factor. Human centered design is now the epicenter of innovation. In the age of AI, and the trepidation of humans being replaced by technology, and bots, it is the human factor that will carry us through. It is ironic how it all always comes down to the heart of it – our humanness. Our ability to create human experiences. No algorithm can predict or even comprehend human emotion and behavior. There has recently been new development in creating “appropriate human response to stimuli”, but the variables far outweigh the response.

Learning should always create a desire to be better. A good learning will.
It is all the more imperative for us to design learning experiences that inspire people to do better and be better. A better leader, a better creator, and a better person.

Learn to Learn.
