NI to get the military’s assistance?
The Health Minister Robin Swann has reportedly sent a request to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the military’s assistance. If the requests get approved, then more than 100 medically trained military personnel will assist at the number of hospitals across Northern Ireland.
Northern Ireland hospitals are already using the military’s transport equipment since the start of the pandemic. But, this will be the first time when military personnel will serve in hospitals. The Health Minister also confirmed that this request is made to ease some pressure from the hospitals’ medical and nursing staff.
Northern Ireland is currently under a six-week lockdown since 26 December 2020. However, Mr Swann confirmed that medical executives would review the current regulations of lockdown on Thursday.
The Health Minister also reported that more than 160,369 doses of vaccinations have now been administrated. He also added that people’s frustration is understandable, but they have to show some patience.
