Ustad Zakir Hussain needs no introduction as one of the foremost artist in global music. Having honed his craft under the tutelage of his late father, the legendary Ustad Allarakha Khan Saheb , Zakir Ji quickly made a name as a young virtuoso in the ancient Indian rhythmic art of Tabla.
From his early appearances on stage at Indian Music Conferences, Ustad Zakir went on to collaborate and produce beautiful soundscapes all over. He is well known for his crossover work where he has for decades effortlessly combined his mastery of Indian Classical rhythms with legend in the Jazz sphere.
Ustad Zakir Hussain delighted the London audience with his magnificent Tabla performance and he was beautifully accompanied by young Sarangi maestro Satwinder Pal Singh.
Satwinder learned the art of Sarangi from his father Sardar Shaminder Pal Singh and also from his Dada-Guru Padam Bhushan Ustad Sabri Khan. At-present he is learning from Padam Vibhushan Pt.Ram Narayan and Pt.Harsh Narayan.
He has the honour to sharing the stage with the legends of Indian Classical Music like Ustad Sabri Khan, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad Taufiq Qureshi, Pandit Navin Sharma, Pandita Anuradha Pal, Ustad Fazal Qureshi, Sukhad Munde, Yashwant Vaishnav and many more.
This evening was organised by Tabla maestro Pt.Sanju Sahai and Kaashi Arts on November 1st,2022 in Union Chapel,London to marks a tribute to one of India’s greatest Tabla artists, the late Pandit Sharda Sahai Ji.
