Teenage is the most sensitive age of a human’s life. People are energetic, curious, and rash decision-makers. Many indulge in bad activities and later find themselves helpless against the habit they have developed, and substance abuse is a prominent one. All types of people worldwide seem to be swallowing this slow poison. Hundreds of organizations are helping people come out of this deadlock and normalize their lives before it is completely wasted. One of these people is John Corvin, an American gym trainer, boxer, and the founder of Raven Boxing and Fitness Club. He has witnessed how substance abuse can make people go from hero to zero in no time. Through his gym and training facilities, he aims to inspire individuals, especially youngsters, to lead a healthy and drug-free life.
Building a Stronger Community
Born and raised in San Diego, John Corvin was an athletic child. He was involved in different sports such as soccer, basketball, boxing, and many more. He was often bullied by the seniors at his school for his high energy and ability to actively participate in co-circular activities. But he was never demotivated by the bullies; instead, this pushed him to indulge himself more in athletic activities. Besides the bullying at school, John did not lead a happy life at home. He often felt neglected as he was father was an alcoholic and spent most of his time in prison, and his mother was the sole bread-winner for the family.
The feeling of being neglected and not having luxuries like other kids had John Corvin made some bad choices. During his teenage, he found himself to be drowning in the consequences of the choices he made when he was at his lowest. He realized that he was repeating his father’s mistake and should stop immediately. So, he deviated his mind and focused on fitness and training. Boxing and gyming gave him the strength to leave behind his bad habits and look towards the better things in life. John at once felt a positive change within himself. He realized that there were many misguided souls who could achieve so much if brought on the right track.
