Up to thirty thousand fans can now attend the upcoming Australian Open. The sports minister of Victoria has confirmed the news as stated by the government.
Although the organisers have divided the capacity of thirty thousand crowd seatings into both day and night sessions equally. Moreover, this daily seatings of fans will be only for the initial eight days of the tournament.
While after that the government is planning to decrease the number to twenty-five thousands of fans during the tournament’s quarter-finals. The tournament is all set to begin from 8th of February to 21st of February 2021.
Martin Pakula, the Australian politician, also mentioned that in the period of 14 days an expected amount of 390,000 fans would be attending the tournament.
This amount of fans would be around 50 per cent of the average in the last few years of Melbourne park.
In addition to that, Mr Martin added that the arenas like Rod Laver would offer an incredible atmosphere.
This event would be of much significance as there hasn’t happened anything with this much of crowd over a few months worldwide. However, it would not be the same as any other previous years.
Another good news is players like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Serena Williams are allowed to leave their hotels. Also by Sunday the government will allow around 500 players to leave their hotels in Melbourne and Adelaide. All the players had to stay in quarantine as per the Australian government’s regulations on covid 19.
The Australian government allowed players to exercise and play outside for around five hours a day.
Though all the players have followed government’s regulations of COVID-19, the potential risk of spreading the virus is still very high.
