As Kai Green said, “In the mind of every artist there is a masterpiece,” so is with Saudamini Mishra, an alumnus of Delhi University. Having topped all three years, she marked her excellent presence during her university days. She was an aspiring author then and was also an executive member of the creative society of her college. She is a formally trained violinist in Western classical music from Trinity College, London. She has given many recitals too, including the one at the India habitat center, New Delhi.
She began her foray into the world of art with sculpting and painting abstracts. In the next year, some of her abstract paintings were taken on by a gallery in her city, in the latter half she participated in the first group exhibition of her sculptures. With no background or training in painting, she miraculously began to paint hyper-realistically and landed with her first group exhibition of paintings. Since she was self-taught, she attracted considerable attention and was widely covered in the media. In another group exhibition where her wooden sculpture was given to the Civil Aviation Minister.
She painted her self-portrait ‘Dhi’, her intellectual self with a typewriter on her head representing fervid mental activity and, holding a book of conscience emblematic of the principle of doing the right thing that would later become the narrator of her writings and the subject of her paintings. She participated in a group exhibition and had her first solo exhibition. After this exhibition four of her paintings, some book installations that combined her painting and writing and presented the artwork. Later she had her first international exhibition, and it was in this year that she first started penning her first book that would be published later. Her self-portrait ‘Dhi’ won a prize internationally. Her ‘Dhi’ illustrations and quotes were also featured and written about in Air India’s in-house magazine. She has also worked in the corporate sector, training corporate people in Digital Content writing.
She participated in a group exhibition in September, when her first book, ‘ Dhi’s Parables of Divine Transformation’ was released that transformed her life too, completely as its success was unforeseen by her. The book became a bestseller shortly after its launch. She broke a record of having published four books, all best sellers in a year. Her third book ‘Dhi’s Oracle of Numbers for Relationship Guidance’ that first put forth her innovation— her system of ‘Oracle Numerology’, has been given the Literary Award for Best Reference Guide.
She is currently working on her fifth book, Dhi’s Self-empowerment Oracle Numerology deck.
Her mission is to empower people, encouraging the quality of self-dependence and leadership through her system of Dhi’s Self-empowerment Oracle Numerology that combines through simple storytelling of parables and art. Numerology has been a relatively unexplored field and people are unaware of the level of guidance it can provide by combining the ‘rationality’ of order, sequence, and logic with the irrationality of faith. So far, it’s been looked upon as a relatively dry subject as it focuses on numbers and arithmetic; so, she decided to infuse it with vibrancy, fun, and relatability through her art and storytelling based on true accounts of people she has known. Her contribution to society so far has been the change her books have brought about in her readers’ lives, including the cause of self-empowerment, self-dependence, and self-love, and that they have wholeheartedly expressed and thanked her for.
‘Dhi’ has become a symbol women empowerment and represents the ‘thinking’ woman, who isn’t fearful of challenging the norms in the hope to establish equality between different genders. Dhi, along with wisdom and self-dependence, stands for freedom of choice. Saudamini is leading the road towards the artistic world with her passion and hunger to outshine and create a legacy that would aid the current and the future generations.
