The travel influencers Cora and Jay Smith are a couple. They travel around the world and share their experience with the people. Recently they shared a post which explained their followers about their time in Dominican Republic.
They posted the details after the recent deaths of US tourists took place on the island. Many people backlashed at them for coming out with the truth after the issue got spotlight. But the couple posted about their experience with an explanation that they spoke out because they want people to know how dangerous the place is.
Cora shared how she got sexually assaulted, and how the men casually treated her with brazen sexuality. Jay also shared a video describing their time on the island. It also received backlash from the haters.
Their post said – “People are trying to say the only reason we are coming out with our story now is because of all the horrible news coming out of the Dominican Republic and that we are creating a pattern. We didn’t create the pattern. The people who actually perpetuated the crimes made the pattern. All we are doing is trying to warn people the pattern is there.”
The island is facing a lot of backlash after the Former Boston Red Sox star got shot on a close range while he was visiting his native land. The incident happened last weekend. And not long before it a Delaware woman admitted that she was brutally assaulted in D.R in January.
Cora also shared her experience where she said that when she and Jay went biking, then some Dominican men came and groped her. She fought hard and tried screaming but her husband was too far ahead to hear her.
The couple did not file a report of the assault. To which they reacted by saying “Because what would have been accomplished? There would have been no suspects or proof. We didn’t have photos of the incidents.”
The couple posted their reason for sharing the experience. They say they wanted to defend the current victims. They just wanted to warn people of the dangers on the island.
