With over two decades of entrepreneurial experience, Rayol Hwang has been the CEO of Hillstone Partners since 2018. As he has done throughout his career, Rayol is revolutionizing the financial industry, one of Korea’s oldest and most respected financial firms. Rayol wants to combine traditional finance with new blockchain technology to provide new and innovative financial solutions for Hillstone’s investors.
What products do you offer at Hillstone Partners?
Hillstone Partners is a traditional finance firm in South Korea. Founded in 1993, we are one of the oldest and most respected financial firms in the country. In fact, we’ve been recognized by the Korean government for our work, and we were the first mergers and acquisitions company in Korea. Hillstone has been focused on investment solely in Korea, but now through the use of blockchain technology, we want to make global opportunities to invest through our new “Fundy” and “Investors” products that we’re launching in September.
What was your greatest challenge in changing the business model for Hillstone?
The general opinion on blockchain is not positive. It’s very challenging to get others to see it as a viable and positive option for finance. I needed investment experts to join the company who were excited about the opportunity that blockchain provides. Recruiting people that believe in blockchain is critical. If I can’t get people inside Hillstone excited about the new technology, then I can’t expect to get outside people excited!
What makes you stand out from others in your field?
I am always trying to bring something new and innovative to the market in whatever I do. Hillstone Partners is trying to bring something new to the world of investing. No one else that I know of is doing what we’re trying to do. We are always trying to propose a vision for blockchain that shows what an incredible opportunity it is.
