Q)Tell us a brief summary of your background in music?
(A) I don’t actually come from a musical background. There’s nobody in my family who plays music, however I’ve always had a passion for music. Growing up I listened to a variety of genres like Jazz, Hip Hop, R&B and Gospel.
(Q)Have you always seen yourself working in the music industry?
(A) No I did not always see myself working in the music industry. Once upon a time I wanted to be an artist myself, but sometimes you fall into industries that you never planned to fall into or you find different areas that you fit into better.
(Q)What do you dislike about the music industry?
(A) The uncertainty of income. As a music manager you may not see any money for the first two years, it’s about graft, patience and commitment. You may also have to spend more than you are making so realistically it’s about being willing to take the risk.
(Q) What do like about the music industry?
(A) I love the freedom, I love travelling. I love seeing things come to life, I like seeing an idea in an artists head quickly transition to the execution in a recorded song then with a video to then touring. I mean I love this job. I love managing artists, booking and sharing the creative vision with various talent. Booking studio sessions, doing admin, booking stylists, directors and make up artists. It doesn’t exactly feel like a job but it’s something I love doing. Music gives me life.
(Q)Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
(A) Ideally, I would love to be the Head of A&R at a major label by then. That is my goal for the next 5 years. A few other things that I have in mind are more personal but I believe I can reach my goals.
(Q) Where can people find you?
(A) You can find me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter
