Marlo Tuaty, a retired Bilingual Speech Language Pathologist, goes back to her passion for Fashion as she not only starts her fashion blog “Petite Miami Girl” but also establishes a venture as a wildly successful fashion and lifestyle blogger and social media influencer. It’s her fascination towards fashion that has helped her to influence her audience and offer authentic product reviews. Social media influencers collaborate with brands to help get the word out about that brand’s products. But why would a 40 something mother of three transition from owning her own jewellery line and Speech Therapy Private Practice to becoming an influential social media icon?  Let’s take a walk together and learn a little bit about Marlo Tuaty and her blog Petite Miami Girl.

Marlo Tuaty, like many of us, has faced some adversities but knows how to handle them with grace to come back stronger and bolder. Being a successful fashion and beauty influencer on social media did not come easily or quickly. The field is demanding and requires one to always stay updated on current trends because let’s face it, Instagram is rolling out new features and updates almost weekly. Starting a career as a social media influencer can be overwhelming and confusing if you are just starting out. For Mrs. Tuaty, the constant changes with social media and constant Instagram updates have been the biggest challenge but not insurmountable and never a barrier to her success.  How do you collaborate with big brands? How do you negotiate your worth? What is the process with delivering content that both boosts the brand and stays in alignment with your brand voice and your brand vision?  And moreover, how does one do that without sounding salesy? Enter Marlo and Petite Miami Girl Blog.

Marlo’s love for fashion was stronger than her social media struggles and she was determined to turn her passion for fashion into a vehicle to connect with likeminded women looking for both great deals and quality items for themselves, home and family. She turned the tables around and did not let overwhelm prevent her from turning her hobby into a dependable revenue stream. She intentionally consumed content, researched other influencers and took thorough notes on how to successfully connect with her audience.  There is something to be said about serving your community versus sell sell selling and Marlo does absolutely that.

Many people would perceive social media influencing as just snapping pretty photos but there is so much more to it than that.  Becoming a successful influencer involves pitching brands, tracking communication, reconciling deliverables and accounting on top of it all.  Successful influencers must have a strong brand presence, a clear content strategy and an effortless delivery to really connect with their audience.  It takes time, dedication, perseverance and knowledge about all social media platforms and how they work.  There is a lifecycle to planning and repurposing content and Marlo has perfected her content strategy to reach her audience in a way that is consistent, meaningful and authentic.

Marlo took one step at a time to develop the confidence that reflected her true boldness on social media – most specifically Instagram Stories. She not only learned her worth, but also developed a second language that allowed her to negotiate, collaborate and ultimately close 5 figure deals with big box retailers and national brands. Being a 49-year-old woman also brought a concern for ageism in the social media influencing industry. But it’s time to break stereotypes and that’s what Marlo Tuaty is doing. She believed in herself and her ability to break the mold and disrupt stereotypes that women can’t become successful online digital entrepreneurs on social media platforms. Believe in yourself and then the world will believe you too. All of this attitude translated into her content and has resulted in skyrocketing sales, brand collaborations and lifelong partnerships with global brands.

Today, Marlo Tuaty is extremely grateful to have made a space for herself that not only is rewarding but also fills her cup.  It’s not just about the products she promotes, it’s about connecting with her audience and being of service using her expertise in the fashion industry.  Marlo’s success is a direct result of her mindset, determination and her striking personality.  Her message is clear, “if I can do it, anyone can” and that is a true testament to her relatability as a successful social media influencer.
