Jeimmy Garzon is one of the most stunning models in the world. But she is also many other things.
“I’m a mum. I also love being at home, cooking and enjoying family life,” she said. “When I’m not working, I dress casually and don’t wear make-up.”
It is that kind of balance for Colombian-native Jeimmy, which she feels has been responsible for the development of a solid foundation for both her career and her life.
Now living in Spain, Jeimmy has traveled the world, walking the catwalk and owning the lens of cameras that capture her beauty, both on the outside and inside.
“As a person, I am straightforward, approachable and happy,” she said. “I always see the positive in every situation.”
Those are the attributes she carries through her personal and professional life along with consistency, discipline and total commitment.
“And always believing that you can achieve your goals in life,” she said. “The opportunities and connections will come, and if you have the right knowledge, attitude and skills, then you need to take them and make the most of them.”
She finds inspiration through others in her industry who share those same attributes, like Bella Hadid.
“She is famed in the modeling world for her great talent, hard work and dedication to the profession, and also for the way she handled the big increase in her workload as she progressed.” Jeimmy said. “The same goes for her sister, Gigi Hadid, who followed the same path.”
Jeimmy said she is grateful to have fantastic role models from whom she has been able to learn. She also credits magazines like VOGUE for its approach in representing the modeling industry.
“I love the way it reflects the industry by taking a close look at the diverse individuals in the world of fashion and combines different styles and nationalities in a highly modern and creative way,” she said. “For me, it also captures the essence of fashion, covering world-renowned artists to introduce readers to the industry and help them understand it better. It has an appealing format, stunning photography, an excellent track-record and impeccable content.”
She said she appreciates any effort in helping to dispel any myths about the industry, especially those misconceptions that there are unrealistic demands put on models in order for them to be successful.
“I think there’s a general perception that the industry requires models to be tall and slim, but there are several areas of modeling where these are not essential requirements at all,” she said. “And it is good that people are able to see that.”
As she looks back on her career so far, she said it has been an incredibly wonderful journey, that while was not always perfect, has always provided her with the opportunity to learn and grow.
“I am very grateful to God and to life for getting me where I am today,” she said.
