He says, in today’s fast-paced world, everything demands our attention and energy like never before. Whether it’s a responsibility toward our family, our career, or wellness goals, everything demands priority. And in the process of meeting all these commitments, we often end up with overwhelm, stress and burnout. He reveals that we can learn to cope and manage stress and can bounce back in a more resilient and remarkable way.
Maya says good mental health isn’t just the absence of mental health problems. It’s the ability to heal and overcome those problems.
What most people don’t realize is that a lot of the stress they encounter is self-imposed. We contribute to our own stress when we don’t plan ahead, don’t get enough sleep, work relentlessly, ignore relationships or procrastinate, among many other forms of behavior.
Mentally tough and resilient persons cope remarkably well with the pressures in their lives. They remain focused, flexible, and productive, in bad times as well as good. They know how to take time out for themselves, how to connect and turn to others for support, and how to manage their mindset to manage their life.
When you take care of your mindset, you make better decisions, think more clearly, feel more optimistic, create and maintain better relationships, sleep more peacefully, and generally feel cheerful.
He added that unfortunately in our society, mental and emotional health issues are seen as a sign of weakness and are often ignored. There is a need to spread awareness on Mental Health and the importance of emotional wellbeing just like physical wellbeing. Men, especially, would often rather bottle up their feelings than seek help and I urge them that seeking help is not a sign of weakness but humanness.
Apart from that, he says, we should do digital detox often by taking a break on social media for a while and try to connect with the real world. We can reflect, meditate, find solace in nature walks, and read to reset and recharge ourselves. By practicing gratitude and mindfulness, we can bring more energy, calmness, and balance towards our mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.
