Foraging is a tough job. Not everyone can know how to do it. And it requires knowledge and practice. If one tries to eat one wrong Berry, then it may even be life-threatening. That’s why there are a few tips and tricks one must follow while foraging for the right berries and fruits.
The first tip as shared on a popular blog is the color. When choosing a Berry or looking for it, you must know what species you are looking for, and find out what the color usually is. Then match it with the berries you find while foraging. If the color does not match it is not the right one. It may even be poisonous.
The second thing that you need to look out for is the skin, which is the texture of the skin. If the skin texture of the fruit or Berry does not match the texture of the species it isn’t the one. Other than that, there is another important feature – pulp.
Most of the pulps are squishy and juicy. However, while foraging you must have knowledge about the species you are looking for. Make sure the pulp matches the requirements of the species of berries or fruits. Then you can go ahead and have it.
Seeds are another big thing to notice. Some fruits and berries are monocotyledons and others are polycotyledon. Whatever the number of seeds, you need to ensure it matches the description of the species you are looking for. A difference in one seed can determine whether a Berry is poisonous or not.
