At Visit magazine, we’re always looking for the next trending travel destinations to check out, experience, and share with our audience. We’re incredibly interested in just how much today’s millenniums & social media influencers travel, so we’ve been hard at work building tools and collecting data that can help us predict the future for travel trends after covid-19 when the world opens up again.
As part of our efforts, we’ve created a list of the top 10 trending travel destinations in 2020 based on an algorithm that we developed that takes several variables into account:
We collected the answers from over 100,000 of our millennial Instagram followers, to the question: “If you could travel and visit any place in the world, where would you go?”
We’ve tracked and made analyses of Instagram geotags from the 100 most highly followed travel influencers on Instagram. For example: @Whatthechick (2.5M followers) @Gypsea_lust (2.1M followers), (@Doyoutravel (2.7M followers), along with many more to see exactly where these trendsetters are traveling and visiting.
The #1-ranked destination in each of our algorithms is Bali (Indonesia), and Tulum, (Mexico), while other locations on the list include Cappadocia (Turkey), and the Greek Islands (Santorini, Mykonos, and Zakynthos).
“We’re always curating the most wonderful and special worldwide locations on @Visit to motivate social media scrollers to explore the world they stay in – whether they want to take a tropical vacation, spontaneous weekend trip or a cozy cabin winter getaway,”
says Visit founder Mads Nordsveen (@Mads).
“We’re excited to acquire this incredible data from our giant following and the most influential travelers on Instagram to share with our engaged, wanderlust-minded audience. Together, we can unlock the next must-visit destinations.”
