When Is The Best Time To Book A Holiday?

Deciding when to book a holiday abroad can be an overwhelming process. There are many factors to consider, such as weather and cost, which make it even more difficult to choose an ideal holiday location. However, this shouldn’t deter you from travelling to your dream holiday destination. With proper planning and consideration, you can travel at the right time for a fun, relaxed and exciting trip. Read on to find out the best time to book a holiday.

How to decide when to book your next holiday

The best time to book a holiday varies depending on many factors. These factors include:

1. Booking for the best weather

Weather plays a significant role in the success of your holiday trip abroad. The last thing you want is a holiday plagued by unbearable heat, extreme cold or monsoon rains that leave you dreading your entire trip. So, take time to do your due diligence and identify the best time to book a holiday throughout the year to book for specific places, including when certain places have the best weather.

For example, the best times of the year to visit Seychelles in Africa are during April, May, October and November when the weather isn’t too hot or humid. October is a peak month for Seychelles, so if you don’t like crowds, you may want to wait until November.

If you’re looking to travel to countries in Asia such as Maldives, Thailand or Indonesia, and what to know when is the best time to book a holiday there, it is best to avoid the monsoon season and the hot season. So, travel right when the wet season ends before the hot weather fully kicks in.

Certain locations, such as Greece, tend to have the best weather in spring and autumn when the weather is still warm.

2. Booking around world-famous events

If you wish to attend or get involved with world-famous events for a particular location, you have to book your trip at the right time. This way, you don’t miss out on accommodation, flight tickets or even event tickets, as these places tend to attract large crowds during festivities.

Start by identifying when famous events are scheduled in your dream holiday destination to plan your holiday in advance. For example, although there are many things you should know before booking a trip to Germany, you might also want to consider booking around one of its most popular events: Oktoberfest.

If you want to attend Oktoberfest 2023 in Munich, Germany, the event is planned to start on September 16th and end on the first Sunday in October. So, start booking your travel as soon as possible to avoid last-minute rushes. However, if you don’t like crowds and want to avoid busy events and festivities, mark them on your calendar so you don’t travel when they’re scheduled! These include anything from Rio Carnival to New Year’s Eve. With popular world events, the best time to book a holiday to your favourite holiday destination depends on whether or not you want to attend or avoid them.

3. The best time to book a holiday for the best deals

If you’re on the hunt for a good deal for your holiday abroad, you’ll have to consider various variables, including time, day, and where you want to travel to. For example, if your dream holiday destination is Mauritius, you may find yourself spending a lot since it’s quite a popular holiday destination attracting thousands of people each year. Luckily, you can cut down costs by travelling during the low season, which is June through September.

To get the best deals for your holiday, it might be worth considering whether it’s best to book your trips in advance instead of at the last minute. Everything from flight tickets to accommodation could potentially be cheaper when booked in advance. This is because airlines hike prices to capitalise on those that need last-minute flights.

According to recent data, booking mid-week flights proves to be the cheapest option while Sunday is seen to be the best day of the week to book flights. Of course the most expensive day to book is Friday. As for months, May, June and September are considered a lot cheaper than travelling in July and August. Also, it might always be best to avoid travelling in December when many people fly for Christmas and to see friends and family.
