Vigilante completed his last scene on the project Active Shooter and as he was on his way out the door he was stopped by Queen. Queen as the DP of the film crew for the Active Shooter project. Queen pulled Vigilante to the side as he was leaving to tell him she would like for him to play the lead role of Dax in her upcoming Animation film The Littlest Giant (TLG). Vigilante accepted the role.
Vigilante showed up to the first day of recording for TLG not knowing what to expect at all. He had never seen the script, had not gotten a description on the character he was playing or known the direction the film as a whole was going in. Never the less Vigilante showed up ready to work.
The first this Vigilante requested since the script was not that long was that he and Queen go over it in its entirety and so they did. After reading the whole thing Vigilante fell involve with the script. Being in the film and music industry so long he felt writing in both songs and movies had become a lost art. This script however triggered a happy place. At first Vigilante accepted this role because he wanted to have animation film credit on his resume and animation demo reel footage but now he was drawn to the story. He could not wait to deliver a beautiful Dax and hear himself as a 3D character showcased on the big screen.
As recording began Vigilante fingered out he was a natural at Voice Over (VO) acting. This may have been attributed to his 5 year music career he had prior to acting. Having to record all his songs, which was over 50, into a similar microphone created a lifetime level of comfort in this setting. Queen was openly pleased with he performance and did not hesitate to say so every chance she got. Vigilante had scene partners that had recorded prior to him. He was not aware until after recording his part but was eager to hear how good a job they had done as well. Queen began to play Vigilante’s scene partners and look of disappointment came across her face. Vigilante stopped the playback to ask Queen why the shift in emotion and she was honest about he displeasure with the performance of the other actors. Vigilante laughed and reminded Queen it’s her project and she can recast at any point. She responded saying that she was new here and didn’t know many actors that could replace the ones she already had. Which was at least 20. Vigilante previous laugh had grown into an ear to ear smile now as he had over 50 actor friends dying to be in an animation film. Queens eyes got really big as he told her he could have all these roles filled within the hour.
An hour later actors were showing up left and right. Queen had written down every character she need recasted on a sheet of paper and each name was getting checked off one by one. Vigilante could see that Queen had a new energy about this project now and she was more ready to work than ever. Each actor did a great job. After 3 hours of recording the 1st day had come to a wrap. On day two there were only a few lines that needed to be recorded and that stage of the project was finalized.
After the first stage was complete Vigilante and queen began to talk about the next steps. Those steps were getting the full project animated, picking the digital platform it would release on after the theater release (if there were one), funding, riging, promotion ect…. Queen had never thought this far ahead about the project but was glad she had Vigilante with her to help out. He offered to come behind the scenes and help he fund the project and Queen accepted. On this day they became Co-Producers on the project. Vigilante also became head of the music division on this project and will be premiering multiple singles from his upcoming album on this project.
Currently TLG is in post production and is set to premiere on Disney Plus.
