Many parts of the UK have been hit enormously due to storm Christoph that has led to heavy rains, flooding, snow, and strong winds. Despite the early warnings by the UK Met department, storm Christoph wreaked havoc in many regions in the country.
Now, evacuations are being executed amid floods and snow in many UK areas hit by the storm. It is the fourth day of the storm Christoph and the evacuation work is continuously going on despite the “danger of life” flood warnings.
A lot of devastation has been caused by heavy rain, snow, and flooding due to which many villages & towns are completely cut-off due to the damage. South Yorkshire and Greater Manchester have witnessed a major incident due to storm Christoph.
Around 2,000 homes in the Didsbury, Northenden regions of Manchester, Ruthin and Bangor-on-Dee, North Wales, and Maghull, Merseyside are severely hit by the storm. Over 200 flood warnings have been issued out of which five are severe. Moreover, the Met department has issued weather alerts for rain and snow.
On one side, the UK is battling the new coronavirus variant and now the storm Christoph has made the situation worse in the UK regions. The UK government has told people that they can leave their homes without caring about the Covid-19 rules in the case of an emergency.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has asked the UK citizens to handle the situation calmly. He has assured people that the government is fully prepared to deal with both the crisis of flooding and the coronavirus pandemic. Boris Johnson has also said that Covid-secure facilities will be made available to people who are forced to evacuate their homes due to bad weather.
