This World Environment Day, we talked about how to beat air pollution. There are many Environmental issues that we need to deal with. Have you noticed the amount of paper cups that are thrown away at the airport? The number is huge, and it is a single use thing which makes the waste redundant.
But Starbucks has come up with a new idea for your coffee. If you are flying from Gatwick airport, then you don’t have to worry about the pollution you cause. It is launching a reusable cup trial. You can grab that Starbucks drink, and depart without having to worry about the cup.
The customers will not be imposed with the choice, but they will be given an option to choose a reusable cup and a single use cup, and then they can easily drop the reusable cup at any check-in-points before boarding the flight.
The coffee chain that is helping Starbucks with this initiative is Hubbub. It is launching a month long trial at Gatwick, and it will cost an extra 5p. It has also made an effort to use takeaway teas and coffees, and is charging customers in various stores.
The initiative is in a trial period and both Starbucks and HubBub will see whether the passengers will choose reusable cups more or not. And they will test if the concept is workable in other branches of the store.
Now you can have your part of the caffeine without having to worry about causing pollution. You will not be feeling guilty anymore. There is a new travel trend known as the Sustainable tourism which encourages travelers to be sensitive towards the environment of their destination. Dia Mirza, who is an Indian Actress, and a pageant winner advocates the use of metal water bottles over plastic water bottles during traveling. She is all for beat plastic pollution.
