Jai Humble grew up with great love for basketball in San Diego, CA. It was a passion she shared with Ziggy, her younger brother.
Her All-Region, All-State force rank, and her East Central Community College admission were all acquired as a result of her love for the sport. All these great achievements were however the starting point for Jai, her talent propelled her into the Mississippi College Women’s Basketball team where she studied Kinesiology.
At the age of 15, Ziggy drowned. A death that began a downward spiral in Jai’s view on life. Herself and Ziggy had both shared a strong bond and this loss almost tipped her off her breaking point. Despite this heartbreaking occurrence, she found strength that allowed her dreams to become a reality, all in honor of Ziggy’s memory.
Jai’s music career kickstarted after a series of events that were pioneered by an interview with a DJ from Dallas who commended the quality of her voice. After the interview, a local publicist took her up and began to spread word of her achievements. Jai Humble moved to Dallas, a decision that caused her to meet people that shared the same views and the same passion. Maintaining a network of creatives like herself only made her better at what she did. Enabling further growth in her career.
Her love for music became apparent after a childhood spent singing in the choir and playing drums. In the two years of her music career, Jai Humble has battled with her identity. It is a roadblock that she encountered, birthed from a number of experiences. Jai was unable to deal with this problem until she learned how to strongly believe in herself. It proved to be the way out for her.
In order to be successful as a creative, being unique is essential and Jai isn’t lacking in that field. With an understanding of the role decisions play in making or breaking one’s career, she is in the habit of creating opportunities for herself without the fear of being distinct. Jai doesn’t wait for these opportunities to find her.
Fatigue, which is common when building a career, is not something Jai deals with. The time she spends in the studio creating music helps to take her mind off her troubling thoughts and motivate her. She invests time into doing what she loves and is of the opinion that fatigue only comes around when you are doing what you do not genuinely enjoy.
Jai Humble could have given up a number of times along the line but she kept pushing. It is key to aim for excellence and to achieve this, giving up should be at the back of one’s mind. The death of Ziggy was devastating for Jai, but it also served as a driving force for her. Everything should be regarded as a learning experience and your primary focus should be on your goal.
