Speaking a language is one thing and being eloquent in it is another. There are several languages around the world that people speak and express themselves through. Drawing, crafting, singing, composing, sculpting, painting, writing, and dozens more. Even though the most prevalent form of language is the alphabet, when it comes to expression, the art of photography tops it all. Looking at pictures every day has gotten us accustomed to the idea, and we often forget what photographs truly and what the art is capable of representing.
We live in a world that has now, in literal terms, learned that there are more colors than black and white. But metaphorically, humans still exist in a world painted with just these two colors. Part of the reason why people have accepted the notion of living in a colorless world is that they have restricted themselves to living in the past and the future. And no one realizes the beauty of the present, and the “living in the moment.” But every time, photographers curate put their eye behind the camera, they make magic, they make people realize that there is more beauty in the world, then one notices due to every day’s hip and happenings. They paint colorful pictures in people’s heads, literally and figuratively.
Among those who have not just captured a picture, but have successfully earned a stream of fans because of making an impact through his art, the name of Varender Singh remains distinguished. Known throughout the social media platforms as Channi Miglani, Singh is a Punjabi who is known for his elite photography skills. Each photo is like a peek to the world with a new and unique perspective.
VARENDER SINGH,
MAKING HIS DREAM COME TO LIFE
Born on November 8th, 1972, in Delhi, Varender Singh is the son of Sardar Harpal Singh Maglani and Sardarni Jaswant Kaur. As a child, he was really interested in sports, especially badminton and cricket.
Varender Singh had been a dream pursuer from the very start. Knowing that his love for cricket ran deep, he played with the school team, and eventually got the status of captainship throughout his high school years. His skills and determination compelled him to try playing for the Ranji Trophy in 1990, but unfortunately, he didn’t get selected.
After finishing school, Varender Singh completed his college education from Khalsa College, Delhi. Two years later, he joined Delhi University and immediately began looking for a job.
However, as much as he tried, he didn’t get any positive results. Lucky for Singh, his father was working at a Sikh Temple in the U.S. as a preacher. Singh’s father told him to join him, and by 1994, Singh had become a permanent resident of the U.S.
Varender Singh knew that he couldn’t take this opportunity for granted, and he looked for work whenever he could. It wasn’t long before he was appointed at the Circle System Group, a company that manufactured Helmets for football players. Singh repaired broken balls at the company, and he was pretty satisfied with his work.
A few years later, Singh had begun receiving pressure from his parents to get a better career. In 2000, he left the company, and it worked for the best. Singh then started working at the United States Post Office, where he worked as a clerk.
For a good year, Varender Singh dedicated his time and a lot of hard work. Up until the time when the terrorist attacked The World Trade Center of America on September 11th, 2001, finding work became extremely difficult. But Singh didn’t have to wait for long. He received a call from Cigna Healthcare Insurance Company, offering him a job- a position as the Machine Operator.
Happy to be given the opportunity, Singh agreed to join the company. For an entire year, Singh worked gave all his time, efforts, and his passion for excelling at his job, and in 2002, he became a permanent employee. As of now, Singh has become the Senior Associate at the company, giving his best every day.
Even though Singh had to work hard and take up different career choices, he did not leave his passion behind. And the one passion that Varender Singh carried in his heart from the very start was photography.
For Singh, photography wasn’t a profession; it was an art form through which he could express his feelings. Singh began capturing pictures through his camera, and each phot he took presented something new. With the aim to share his craft with the world, Singh decided to establish a social media presence. He joined Facebook and Instagram with the alias, Channi Miglani.
“Photography is just a profession for many, but for me, it is a way of expressing my feelings. I use my experiences and understanding of life to create my portraits. Clicking pictures and then editing them to reflect my inner thoughts about nature, life, an event, or a character is my general objective for my audience.”
For Varender Singh, photography is the one thing that he adores to do, and he is proud of his art. Even though he sometimes gets criticism for his photos, he takes them all as inspirations and uses them to improve, grow, and become better at his craft.
Singh belongs to the population of people that are not just admired for the skill set they possess, but he is also renowned because of this. His life unfolds events where he uses a unique approach to see through life experiences, and people love him for it!
