You could say that the mind of a talented artist is abstract. They think in ways the average person does not and embrace a reality that inspires and nurtures expression. It’s about feeling and merging worlds that may not make sense in simple terms but work for those willing to think outside the box. Visual and graphic artist Dangiuz bravely lives a life that most would consider being in the world of Blade Runner.
A famous movie set in a dystopian world, Blade Runner, takes place in Los Angeles, where synthetic humans are bioengineered to work in space colonies. Strange, no doubt, you never know what the future holds, and Dangiuz looks towards this unforgiving yet technologically advanced world to find inspiration for his edgy and groundbreaking work. Born in Turin, Italy, Dangiuz currently resides in Milan, where he creates deep and sometimes dark pieces that make the audience think.
Futuristic with a sci-fi feel, Dangiuz’s world looks like something straight out of a movie. “My work is constantly compared to Blade Runner,” he says. “Honestly, it’s where my mind feels most at home.” A bit weird? Maybe. But Dangiuz produces work that pushes the traditional boundaries of graphic art and is changing the way we perceive visual artists. When you look at his work, you can tell that the future inspires it—a future that may not be so far off.
“When we look at the world and how we are behaving as a society, you cannot but help but think that a dystopian reality isn’t too far off,“ he explains. “That is what I do with my work. I show people what we might become considering the circumstances that we are living under.” The artist’s statements make you think and wonder if he sees something we don’t yet.
Dark and futuristic, Dangiuz presents modern trends interpreted by an artist living ahead of his time. He says, “We bioengineer everything. What makes people think humans aren’t next on that list.?” Just like the movie, human subjects in Dangiuz’s work are clearly the product of engineering, bringing to light what that could mean as times continue to change.
