After a cruising victory over Doncaster Rovers in FA Cup, David Moyes’ West Ham will now play against Liverpool / Manchester United. Goals from Pablo Fornals, Andriy Yarmolenko, Oldapo Afolayan and own goal from Doncaster’s Andy Butler gave Hammers a cruising home victory.
After this win, the London side is set to play against the Liverpool vs Manchester match-winner for their fifth-round. However, West Ham will not worry about this match as they’re currently in a great form after winning the last five matches.
West Ham’s dominant performance
After a victory against West Brom, David Moyes started with eight changes in his team. The manager dropped the hero of the previous match, Michail Antonio, to the bench. In his absence, the Ukrainian striker Andriy Yarmolenko led the attack of West Ham. The striker didn’t disappoint his coach and scored a goal in the 32nd minute.
Later, Ryan Fredericks picked out his teammate Pablo Fornals’ run, who delivered a clinical finish in the bottom corner. The Doncaster side picked a strong lineup for this match but looked vulnerable since the start.
David Moyes also picked Said Benrahma into the West Ham squad hoping that the Algerian will get off the mark for his new club. However, the Algerian winger didn’t score but produced an assist in the 32nd minute.
In the second half, Doncaster’s goalkeeper delivered twp exceptional saves from efforts of Tomas Soucek. However, West Ham continued their positive performance, and Andy Butler deflected Mark Noble’s shot into his own net. David Moyes decided to give Oldapo Afolayan his debut who scored the fourth goal in the 78th minute.
Now, after an easy win, West Ham will surely try to deliver their best in the fifth-round as well. However, the job will not be easy for David Moyes’ players to play against Liverpool or Manchester United in February.
