When we rent a room, or a house we treat it like our own. Many travelers are too busy visiting and do not snoop around grey areas of the house. Living in a house that is already lived in is an uncomfortable feeling.
But Airbnb thrives on this business. It is all well and good till you stumble across the closed door and see something you can’t unsee. A woman Ashley Fryer shared her horrifying experience at an Airbnb.
She made a tweet which she has now made private about her experience in the Airbnb. In the tweet she attached a photo of a room that had two guns, an erotic painting and a typewriter made of teeth as keys.
She tweeted – “Feel a bit mean posting a photo of someone else’s place so here’s a tiny snippet of the madness I am talking about”.
She explained that she wasn’t around snooping and looking for trouble or monsters under her bed. She was just looking for the Modem when she entered the room and found these creepy belongings of the owner. She interacted with the followers and asked them – “We are going to die, aren’t we?”
Many of her followers replied to it with a tongue in cheek kind of humour. One said “Never unlock the locked room! There are 1000 of fairy tales about this”, and another said “Shoot the typewriter with the guns”, another follower Andrew Whitby said “That’s not an airbnb that’s an escape room.”
People also shared their own version of the AirBnb nightmares. The twitter user @partayannamal replied to Ashley’s tweet and shared “Nowhere near the same level of horror, but I once stayed in a cavernous, ancient airbnb by myself once and it took me two days to realise that there was blood smeared all over one of the doorposts. Slept with the bedroom door locked shut.”
Seems like, one shouldn’t unlock a locked door in Airbnb. It should be mentioned while renting it.
